It had been 14 years since ex-gunfighter, Morgan Lane, wore his fast gun and rode with the four members of the Pearson gang. He’s strapped it on again and hits the vengeance trail after the gang rapes and murders his wife, Dora, and leaves him to die in his burning house tied to a chair.
Dora’s sister Molly Bowland, school teacher in Hardin, Missouri, had loved Morgan for 3 years before he married Dora, but she hates guns and Morgan had worn a pistol on his left hip. She’s the woman left behind to care for the livestock and Morgan and Dora’s two ungrateful children.
She‘s forced to learn to use a gun to protect the children from cattle rustlers and hostile Indians. But all hell breaks loose when the school board, believing Morgan had been on the ranch living in sin with Molly, tries to send the children away to live with other families until Morgan returns.
